Canadian Council of the Blind Bursary

The Canadian Council of the Blind Bursary is administered through an endowment fund at Carleton University, and is awarded annually to one or more blind or visually impaired students studying at the respective campus.

Criteria

In order to be considered eligible for the above bursary / award, students must be:

  • registered with the Paul Menton Centre (PMC);
  • within good academic standing (that being, the student meets the requirements for continuation in their program of study);
  • a Canadian Citizen, or permanent resident of Canada (has held landed immigrant status for one year prior to the date of application);
  • demonstrative of financial need;
  • fulfilling of the OSAP Ontario Residency requirements (as endowed in 2006 by the Canadian Council of the Blind);
  • able to demonstrate through a brief submission, how this bursary may assist them in furthering the goals of the Canadian Council of the Blind within the Carleton community

Awards administered through the Paul Menton Centre (PMC) are grouped into two categories: scholarships and bursaries. Each category contains a single application form, and a student must apply using the respective form. If they are interested in both bursaries and scholarships, they will need to submit both forms.

Students will only need to submit the application form for the category once. Students will be considered for each of the bursaries / scholarships for which they are eligible, within the category (or categories) they applied for.
