Eleanor Ritchie Scholarship

The Eleanor Ritchie Scholarship is for a student on the autism spectrum who currently resides in Ontario, entering their first year of post-secondary education at any level.

Each year, Autism Ontario awards scholarships to outstanding students entering their first year of a post-secondary program across Ontario. The Eleanor Ritchie Post-Secondary Education Scholarship is named after Eleanor Ritchie, a long-standing member of Autism Ontario, in recognition of her dedication and support for individuals with autism.

Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be on the autism spectrum
  • Currently live in Ontario
  • Be accepted in first year at any level of a post-secondary institution (e.g., college program including apprenticeships, university, post-graduate) in Canada

How to Apply

  • Applications are currently closed. Online applications will re-open in April 2023
  • You application must be received by the deadline in order to qualify for consideration
  • Include the following documentation:
    • A cover letter, which should provide:
      • Information about the applicant, including future goals, interests, and/or career pathways
      • Description of post-secondary course and why this course was chosen
      • Full contact information (name, address, phone number, and email address)
    • A copy of the applicant’s diagnosis from a medical/psychological professional
    • A copy of the letter of admission/proof of enrollment (such as an early acceptance letter) from a post-secondary institution
      • Note: Post-secondary registration confirmation may be submitted past the deadline if a date by which Autism Ontario can expect documentation is noted in the original application
  • Note: your Social Insurance Number will be required only if you are awarded a scholarship
  • Documentation must be submitted online
  • Each upload may not exceed 2GB file size
  • Students may apply as often as they wish as long as they are entering the first year of a post-secondary program
  • You can be an Autism Ontario scholarship recipient only once per year

The successful candidate will receive their award after Autism Ontario receives proof of registration in first year of a post-secondary institution.

Autism Ontario does not publish award winners’ names without their expressed consent. If you receive any of the Autism Ontario scholarships, Autism Ontario will request and welcome any pictures, written responses, quotes, or other submissions to celebrate the achievement in their Autism Matters magazine, newsletters, annual report, and social media. However, this is entirely optional and recipients are under no obligation to publicly identify themselves.
