This scholarship is named in honour of Rixon Rafter, a former graduate from the Ontario School for the Blind (now called W. Ross School for the Blind).

Eligible candidates can apply for this scholarship for each year of their postsecondary program (to a maximum of four years).

Criteria

This scholarship is available for students who are:

1. an Ontario resident
2. are legally blind
3. are pursuing post-secondary studies
4. Students attending W. Ross Macdonald School for a minimum of two (2) years and are also eligible to apply to the Judge
Brian Stevenson Scholarship are required to respond to a different essay question for each of these two different
scholarships.

Candidates should demonstrate strong career aspirations in their application.

This fund was established to provide financial assistance to students with visual impairments enrolled in post-secondary studies. The Rixon Rafter Scholarship is administered by the W. Ross MacDonald School Scholarship Committee and awarded according to the financial needs, academic success, and career goals of the candidates. The value of the granted scholarships is $2000.
