The Sun Life Financial Peer Support Scholarship is offered through Spinal Cord Injury Canada, and is awarded to a post-secondary student with a spinal cord injury who is living in Canada, and who is also a peer support volunteer with one of the SCI Canada network partners.
Spinal Cord Injury Canada was established in 1945 by WWII veterans who sustained spinal cord injuries in the war. Back then, their founders did amazing things like helping create the Department of Veterans’ Affairs, establishing the world’s first rehabilitation centre for people with spinal cord injuries, and building a supportive network of people and organizations across the country. The nonprofit continues to work across the country with and for people with spinal cord injuries.
