Harbhajan Ranauta Legacy Scholarship

The Harbhajan Ranauta Legacy Scholarship is an annual scholarship awarded to a graduate student who is pursuing studies relating to the advancement of accessible Mental Health and / or Addiction support services.

Deadline: March 30, 2027

Criteria

In order to be considered eligible for the above scholarship, students must be:

  • a graduate student in Public Health, Social Work, Medicine and / or a related faculty at a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution;
  • within good academic standing (that being, the student meets the requirements for continuation in their program of study);
  • be of South Asian descent and demonstrative of some involvement within their community
  • demonstrative of financial need;

Please note that The Harbhajan Ranauta Legacy Foundation recognizes that “South Asian” can often be a complicated identity category, and that relationships with heritage are unique and complex. Applications who self-identify with any of the varied identities within the term South Asian, including mixed identities and diasporas are welcome to apply.

Along with the completed application form, applicants must also submit:

  • a cover letter (maximum 1000 words) describing:
    • your personal, education, and community involvement background;
    • how your current studies relate to the advancement of Mental Health and / or Addiction supports;
  • a signed letter of reference from an instructor or academic / faculty advisor;
  • a photocopy of your latest academic transcript;

All applications must be submitted to scholarship@hrlegacy.ca by 11:59pm PST on the deadline date.
