The ECCC Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Undergraduate Scholarships are offered to support high school graduates (or CEGEP graduates in Quebec) pursuing a bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences or environmental engineering.

The ECCC Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Undergraduate Scholarships are available to high-school graduates from underrepresented groups, who aim to pursue STEM related fields in post-secondary. Each scholarship is $2,000 / year, renewable up to four years, depending on the availability of funding. Applicants must be interested in environmental sciences or environmental engineering.

Application package must be submitted through email to awards-coord@cmos.ca by March 15, 2025
Required Documents
Application package must include the following:

- A cover letter from the applicant that includes their mailing address and contact information and the anticipated university program
- A reference letter from a community member describing:
- the community member’s position and relationship with the applicant,
- the applicant’s passion for the environment,
- any supporting information in favour of the applicant’s interest and abilities to pursue a career in sciences (e.g. environmental sciences, etc.).
- The letter should be sent directly to CMOS-SCMO care of the Awards Coordinator awards-coord@cmos.ca) at the address below (under contact), with the heading CMOS-SCMO/ECCC EDI Scholarship Program Reference Letter for {Applicant’s name}.
- Community members can be: High school/CEGEP principal or teacher, academic advisor or mentor, community service leaders (e.g. community service clubs), First Nation Elder, Church Elder or Coach. NOT family members
- Most recent official transcript, sent directly to CMOS-SCMO at the address provided under Contact Information.
- The courses and marks achieved must at a minimum be commensurate with university requirements for entrance to undergraduate programs in the environmental programs as described above.
- A financial need statement from the applicant describing how the financial assistance of the scholarship will help in their pursuit of an undergraduate environmental program degree (max. 200 words).
- A short essay (maximum 500 words) by the applicant, describing the applicant’s interest in Environmental Science/Engineering, responding to the following questions.
- A short essay (maximum 500 words) by the applicant, describing the applicant’s interest and/or experience in improving Equity, Diversity and Inclusion by responding to the following questions.
- Proof of acceptance into a recognized Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics program with an emphasis on the Environment is required for the scholarship to be delivered.
- Example community members (not family member): High school/CEGEP principal or teacher, academic advisor or mentor, community service leaders (e.g. community service clubs), First Nation Elder, Church Elder or Coach.
