To assist Nova Scotians with disabilities in their pursuit of post-secondary education and training.

These scholarships are made possible by support from Scotiabank, The Smith Family, Alex Peeler Mixed Media Fund, Casino Nova Scotia – Halifax, Casino Nova Scotia – Sydney, Golf Nova Scotia & Lung Association of Nova Scotia & PEI (GNS & LungNSPEI).
Criteria
To be considered, the applicant must:
- Be a person with a permanent disability. The applicant does not need to submit proof of permanent disability, such as medical documents. Please do not send medical documents regarding your disability.
- Be a permanent resident of Nova Scotia.
- Be entering or continuing studies, at the undergraduate level, in a Canadian post-secondary institution that is recognized by Universities Canada and Colleges and Institutes of Canada, and not be involved in the selection process or be a close family member of any scholarship selection committee member.
- Not be involved in the selection process or be a close family member of any scholarship selection committee member.
- Not have been a previous winner of the award.
Applicant must be able to participate in the Scholarship Luncheon in Halifax or attend the Cape Breton event during Access Awareness Week, Nova Scotia, May 25th to 31st.
How to Apply
Applicant must:
- Complete all parts of the Scholarships for Students with Disabilities application form and submit ALL supporting documents as one (1) document. Deadline for application is March 28th, 2025 at 4:30 PM
- Supporting documents:
- Two letters of reference, one from a teacher, guidance counselor, or professor (a letter from an employer or case worker will be accepted), and another letter from an individual who has known you for more than one year, must NOT be a family member
- Official transcripts for the last two years of study (attach a resume if you have not attended school in the past three years)
- Suitable picture of applicant (preferably graduation) in digital, high-quality format, or jpeg or png.

- Option 2) The applicant can fill out and submit the Scholarship Application | Access Awareness Week 2025 online application form.
Submission of an application signifies an applicant’s agreement to comply with all stated conditions of the award program, including permission to use the recipient’s name and/or image in press releases and promotional material, as well as permission to release contact information to reputable members of the press.
