The Youth Education Awards are available to Survivors of a pediatric brain tumour who are pursuing post-secondary education.

Offered by the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, The Youth Education Awards support young brain tumour survivors in achieving their dreams through post-secondary education. The Awards were first introduced in 2013, funds are raised by the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be survivors of a pediatric brain tumour (all tumour types considered, from malignant to non-malignant) diagnosed before the age of 25.
- Be Canadian residents. This information is confirmed by submitting the completed Medical Eligibility Form with your application by your medical team.
- Be between the ages of 16–30 years old.
- Be enrolled full-time in a publicly funded Canadian university or college in the 2025 Fall academic term.
NOTE:
- Students with a disability attending post-secondary school are also eligible provided they meet their institution’s requirements for full-time study as a student with a disability.
- Students who receive an award from Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada are not eligible to apply in future years. If there is an interruption for medical reasons, a medical note is required and eligibility maybe opened again. Unused funds are to be returned to Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.
- Students who are unsuccessful in their application may apply again in future years for funding consideration, as long as they are still eligible.
How to Apply
The Youth Education Awards Application Form consists of five (5) parts:
- Student information and qualifications.
- Work and volunteer experience.
- Financial information, submissions.
- A medical eligibility form.
Application Submission
- Email Susan Ruypers at sruypers@braintumour.ca with a completed original PDF copy of the Youth Education Awards Application Form, along with the following supporting documents as one PDF:
- Medical eligibility form
- Letter of acceptance or proof of enrollment in a post-secondary institution
- Personal essay
- Submit a Character Reference letter. This letter must be submitted directly from the referee via email to Susan Ruypers at sruypers@braintumour.ca
All pieces must be submitted via email, no later than April 18, 2025. Incomplete packages or packages not received by the due date, will NOT move forward to the review committee
The results will be communicated to all applicants by early July 2025.
