The Bloorview School Authority Bursary is for students with a disability who attended Bloorview School or were clients of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.

The Bloorview School Authority Bursary offers up to $9,000 in bursary funds which will be awarded to deserving students.  The student must be entering an OSAP eligible post-secondary institution, show academic achievement, participate in extracurricular activities and community involvement/volunteerism.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must:

  • Attended Bloorview School Authority (formerly Bloorview MacMillan Centre) or;
  • Is/was a client of Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital.
  • Be entering a recognized post secondary institution (college or university).
  • Demonstrate academic achievement, participated in extra-curricular activities and volunteer within their community.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident.

Required Documents

Please submit:

  1. The completed Bloorview School Authority Bursary Application Form.
  2. Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residence.
  3. A 2 -3 page personal letter (or video) of introduction outlining:
    • the nature of the applicant’s disability;
    • personal history, strengths, aspirations, challenges, achievements and goals;
    • applicant’s community and/or volunteer involvement;
    • applicant’s interests and any extracurricular participation (or the factors which have impacted the ability for such involvement);
    • the impact of this award to the applicant, if received;
    • how will this award be used to overcome challenges and barriers caused by the applicant’s disability.
  4.  A letter of reference. The letter should be written by a non-family member, such as a teacher, a community leader, a coach or activity leader. The referee should describe:
    • their relationship to the applicant
    • the applicant’s commitment, drive, leadership qualities, volunteerism, and extracurricular involvement.

NOTE: The committee is open to receiving applications in alternate formats or modes (e.g. video submission).
