The EKO Scholarship program provides an award of $3,000 to a student with a speech and/or language disorder who has received services from EKO.

Since 2011, Empowered Kids Ontario (EKO), has helped students with disabilities pursue postsecondary education. The EKO Scholarship program dedicates one award to a student who identifies as having a communication disorder.
Eligibility Criteria
The student must:
- Have received services from an Empowered Kids Ontario General Member organization.
- Be a Canadian citizen, Permanent resident/landed immigrant; or
- be a convention refugee or protected person living in Canada as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
How to Apply
The student applicant must submit:
- The completed EKO Scholarship online application form.
- A personal essay that is maximum 750 words or submit a creative project that allows you to express yourself, such as a video, short story, visual artwork, music composition, recorded performance. Your essay or creative work should address one of the following topics:
- How have you assisted others? For example, as a volunteer, as a mentor, or as a family member.
- Describe people or events that inspires you. It could be a mentor, a historical or current event, a work of art such as, a book, film, performance, painting or sculpture.
- Describe what motivates you to enter the program of your choice and how you intend to apply what you learn.
- Two letters of recommendation Give recommenders time to prepare a thoughtful letter.
- A Letter from EKO General Member agency confirming that you received services.
