Epilepsy Toronto provides advocacy, resources, and awareness to improve the quality of life for people with epilepsy and their families. Their vision is a world where epilepsy is fully understood, and those affected feel supported. In 2025, Epilepsy Toronto is offering two (2) Ade Adegbite Memorial Scholarships and one (1) Cheung-Poon Memorial Scholarship to students who demonstrate determination in overcoming epilepsy-related challenges, as well as academic achievement, community involvement, educational goals, communication skills, and epilepsy advocacy.
Ade Adegbite Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,500
Number Available: 2
Open to students completing high school in 2025, and/or any student who meets the eligibility criteria below.
Cheung-Poon Memorial Scholarship
Amount: $1,200
Number Available: 1
Open to students who are in their last year of high school and are enrolled in full-time post secondary studies.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, the student must:
- Have epilepsy
- Be 17 years or older
- Be a Canadian citizen, Protected Person or Permanent Resident of Canada
- Be a resident of Toronto or plan to attend school in Toronto or be an Epilepsy Toronto member
- Be enrolled in or accepted for full-time or part-time post-secondary studies in a college, university, accredited profession or apprenticeship training institution (part-time students must be completing at least one course each semester)
- Not be related to any member of Epilepsy Toronto’s Board of Directors or staff.
Note: One Ade Adegbite Memorial Scholarship and the Cheung-Poon Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a student in their last year of high school. The second Ade Adegbite Memorial Scholarship is open to any student who meets this eligibility criteria.
