Threads of Life Scholarship

Threads of Life Scholarship is available to Canadian residents enrolled full-time or part-time, in a college, university, or trade school program who have been affected by a workplace tragedy, such as a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease.

Threads of Life is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to supporting families after a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease. To deliver this scholarship, Threads of Life has partnered up with the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP). BCRSP sets certification standards for occupational health and safety professionals in Canada. BCRSP provides the fund for this scholarship.

Criteria

To be eligible, students must be:

  • A person who has been affected by a workplace tragedy: a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease.
  • A Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • A full-time or part-time student in a college or university program, or a trade school, during the 2025-2026 academic year

NOTE: Threads of Life employees, children or relatives of employees are not eligible for this scholarship award.

How to Apply

All applicants must submit the following documents electronically:

  1. The completed 2025 BCRSP Threads of Life Scholarship Application 
  2. A written response to the question: “How the BCRSP/Threads of Life Scholarship will impact you and why you should be awarded the scholarship”.
    1. Your response is to be a maximum of 1000 words, must be double-spaced, must use 12-point font, with one-inch margins, and must be written by you.
    2. Your response is to include acts of community involvement.
  3. A letter of confirmation or acceptance into a college, university or trade school program.
  4. A copy of your most recent university/college/trade school transcript or submit your high school transcript if you have not yet completed one year of university/college/trade school program.

NOTE:

  • The applicant’s written submission will be evaluated based on the applicant’s capacity to answer the question, organization of essay, unity and cohesion of thoughts, grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, etc.
  • All essays submitted become the property of BCRSP and Threads of Life. Successful essays may be published by BCRSP and Threads of Life
  • All applicants will be notified of the scholarship winners by Threads of Life in June 2025.
