The Joan Meister ORW Memorial Fund for Students with Disabilities Bursary is available to Douglas College students with disabilities enrolled in a program that supports their employment goals.

  • Winter: December 15th – January 17th
  • Summer: April 15th – May 15th

The Joan Meister ORW Memorial Fund for Students with Disabilities Bursary was established in 2004 to recognize and reward students with disabilities enrolled at Douglas College. This would include not only students enrolled in a Vocational Education and Skills Training (VEST) program, but also, students with disabilities enrolled in any program that would support them in achieving their employment goals. In recognition of Joan Meister’s contributions’  to the women’s movement and women with disabilities, preference will be given to female students.

Eligibility

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are a student with a disability at Douglas College
  • Enrolled in a Vocational Education and Skills Training (VEST) program or a program that supports your employment goals
  • Are a credit student
  • Are in good academic standing and have a minimum CGPA of 1.50
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Are a full-time or part-time student in the term for which the bursary will be received, as stated in the individual bursary qualifications
  • Participation in college and community activities may also be considered 
  • Preference given to female students
